What looks like poo but doesn't taste like poo? Why, a delicious kitty litter cake of course.
You will need:
1 spice cake mix or chocolate cake mix
1 white cake mix
1 large pkg instant vanilla pudding mix
1 pkg vanilla sandwich cookies
green food coloring
10 to 12 small Tootsie Rolls
1 clean, new kitty litter pan
1 clean, new pooper scooper
Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions (You can use any size pans since the cakes are going to be crumbled once they are baked and cooled).
Make the instant vanilla pudding and chill until ready to use.
In a food processor crumble the vanilla sandwich cookies (the icing sticks to the sides so keep a spatula handy. Take about 1/4 cup of crumbled cookies and put in a small bowl. Add a few drops of green food colouring and blend until well mixed and green. Keep aside.
Once the cakes are baked, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool completely. Once cooled, crumble them into a very large bowl. Add half the remaining white cookie crumbs and some of the chilled pudding. (Use only enough of the pudding to make the cake moist or to your liking - you don't need to use it all as it may make the cake soggy.) Put the cake, pudding and cookie mixture into the new, unused litter box and distribute evenly.
Unwrap the Tootsie Rolls and place about four of them on a microwave safe plate. Heat until soft enough to shape into kitty poo. Use your imagination in coming up with some interesting poo shapes. Roll some of the Tootsie Roll poo's in the cookie crumbs to make an authentic kitty poo look.
Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top of the cake. Toss some of the green cookie crumbs on top as well (to look like the freshening bursts of chlorophyll found in some kitty litter brands - you don't need to use the green if you don't like the look of it)
Arrange your poo creatively, hang a few over the edge of the kitty litter pan. Make big ones, make little ones, make coils and crazy poo shapes. Place a new, unused kitty litter scoop in the pan and voila! Looks just like a kitty litter box full of poo but tastes like yummy cake and is 100% dust free!
